Hide the desktop icons in Gnome

To hide the icons that show up on the Gnome desktop, launch

gconf-editor

and go to apps > nautilus > preferences. Uncheck the box at the right of show_desktop and close gconf-editor.

    Yes , but after doing this the side effect is , right click on desktop wont respond anymore , so if u need to change the bg or changes any appearance related stuff , you need to go in the native way.
