Here’s how to install the newly-release KDE 4.3 in Ubuntu Jaunty.
Open up your sources.list file:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
add the following line at the bottom of the file:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu jaunty main
Save the file and do a
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Hi,
Thanks for the article.
i need a clarification – As i read on some other sites
1) If you have Kubuntu installed then we can go ahead and do –
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
2)In case of Ubuntu we need to do (if KDE 4* is not installed)
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
Please let me know if this is correct or we can just run
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
ir-respective of Ubuntu or Kubuntu installed.
Thanks
Rohan
Any of the three choices will work as long as you have the
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu jaunty main
line in your /etc/apt/sources.list
Thanks a lot for the explaination.
Will try it out today and comment back.
Thanks
Rohan
KDE 4.3 installed fine with
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
and KDE 4.3 looks promising as well.
Thanks for the guide. Saved me quite some time.
Keep up the good work!
